For the shelter CATS:
Mix together
- Twenty (20) kilos of boiled galunggong also in plain water and ¼ cup of vinegar, no salt, no seasoning0
- Three (3) huge “kalabasa” or pumpkin – peeled, seeds removed, boiled until soft and mashed
For the distribution of food:
- Two (2) large plastic basin and two (2) or more long-handled ladle for mixing
- Disposable plastic gloves for those deboning the fish
- Old newspaper to line the tables
- One (1) XL garbage bag
- Also please bring detergent/dishwashing soap and sponges. We highly recommend a little food-bowl-washing fun to make the experience complete! Food bowls are all cleaned before food is served. Bring a camera!!!
NOTE:
- Feeding is done for BOTH cats and dogs.
- Cooking of food is done outside the shelter. Please cook them on the day itself so as to avoid spoilage or being smelly. I suggest that when cooking, please boil the sawdust/ground pork and the fish until they are already dried. Then 5-10 minutes before turning the fire off, please put 1/2 cup of vinegar and let dry without mixing. This is to lessen the chances of them being smelly and prone to spoilage.
Also allow them to cool a bit before covering them.
- Please be at the shelter by 1PM to prepare the food (deboning of fish and mixing of the food) so that the shelter animals can promptly eat by 3PM. We usually give a 20-30 minute tour of the shelter first before the preparation of the food.
- PAWS vet and admin will check the quality of the food (i.e. smell, texture) to ensure the health and safety of the shelter animals. The management may opt not to use the prepared food for feeding if it will not pass the quality check that we will conduct. Kindly strictly follow the cooking requirements.
