Shelter Feeding Program

The PAWS feeding program is organized to help alleviate the problem of food shortages in our shelter. It also allows the shelter animals to add something different to their diet other than their daily kibble.

We and the animals rely on volunteer work to feed them something different from the shelter standard kibble. The feeding program is simple, and could be a great bonding experience for you and your loved ones!

What to bring

For the shelter DOGS, mix together:

  • Twenty-five (25) kilograms of boiled ground pork or beef (no need for seasoning, salt, or any other cooking method)
  • Eight (8) kilograms of cooked rice

For the shelter CATS, mix together:

  • Twenty (20) kilograms of boiled Galunggong (Black Scad Fish)
  • Two (2) large pumpkins – peeled, seeds removed and boiled into a mash

For distribution of the food, please bring:

  • Two (2) large plastic basins and two (2) ladles
  • Old newspaper to line the tables
  • Disposable gloves
  • One (1) XL garbage bag
  • Dish washing soap and sponges for washing bowls
  • A camera to document the experience!!!

Shelter Feeding Guidelines

To make this an enjoyable experience for you and the shelter animals that you will be feeding, please take note of the following guidelines:

The feeding program is for BOTH cats and dogs

If the group cannot afford to donate the specified amount for both cats and dogs, they may help by taking part in the PAWS cleaning program instead.

Cooking of food is done outside the shelter

Please cook the food on the day itself to avoid spoilage or bad smell. When cooking, boil the ground pork and fish until they dry and allow them to cool before covering.

Feeding is done in the afternoon.
Please be at the shelter by 2:00 so that the animals can be fed at 4:00 PM, as is their routine.

Food preparation (deboning of fish and mixing of the food) takes approximately an hour. Also, we usually give a 20 minute tour of the shelter before the feeding starts.

Take part in our Shelter Feeding Program

Please call 475-1688 to arrange the date and logistics, or schedule it online. The animals hope to see you here!
